Welcome To Michigan United Deer Hunters (MUDH) |
|
Michigan United Deer Hunters (MUDH) is a deer hunting organization whose principal purpose is to demand sound, scientific, "non-political" whitetail deer management for the benefit of the deer herd and deer hunters....not special interest groups.
MUDH and its afilliate, Michigan United Sportsmans Trust (M.U.S.T.) pledge to fight P.E.T.A., The Fund For Animals / Humane Society of the United States and all other anti-hunting groups and initiatives for as long as we stand together unified by the truth! Recent events including the "dove bill" defeat, enormous license fee increase proposal and the continuing decline in hunter numbers here in Michigan have prompted MUDH to issue the following resolution: “We are now facing a crisis and waiting for the bureaucrats to do the work of the people is no longer an option!” - MUDH Executive Committee. Jan 17th, 2007 Mission Statement M.U.D.H. will work to protect all hunting, especially our historic deer-hunting heritage by forming alliances with like-minded individuals, organizations and businesses. We will not be intimidated or corrupted and will fight all anti-hunting initiatives and groups along with any legislation and special interest pressure that may negatively affect reasonable hunting expectations statewide. We will work through the political process to expand valuable wildlife habitat for the benefit of the resource, while increasing ethical hunting opportunities and revenue throughout Michigan. |

You may have noticed some "slight" changes with our with our web site ... and hopefully our organization. Thus, on behalf of our Executive Committee members, it gives me great pleasure to introduce to you the next level of our growth dedicated to sports men and women who are interested in preserving our Michigan traditions. Of course, a transition of this magnitude does not happen without a few wrinkles that will need ironing out. Please read on to learn more about what is in store for MUDH during these exciting times, and again -- thank you for your continued support and patience as we strive toward future success in achieving our goals. A web designer's job is never finished! |

Where Have All The Hunters Gone? |
|
Any average person looking at a map of the United States for the first time will almost certainly be drawn to Michigan first. The reason is obvious when you consider the geographic distinction and beauty created by our incredible “Great Lakes.” The natural beauty does not stop there. Inland lakes, rivers, islands, beaches, sand dunes, vast cedar swamps and forests are just a part of what sets Michigan apart. Factor in the unprecedented amount of state land and one can only assume we live in the greatest “outdoor recreation” state in the lower forty-eight, right???
One would think so, but the landscape is changing quickly here in our home state. |

Recent Humane Society Actions Threaten All Michigan Hunting |
|
Regardless of how you feel about dove hunting in Michigan, one thing is clear; the recent and successful joint campaign between the Humane Society of The United States and The Committee to Restore the Dove Shooting Ban should send chills down your spine. Getting the dove hunt canceled, while certainly newsworthy, may not be the big story here however. The mere presence of the Humane Society in this Michigan based issue is very troubling because they (HSUS) are now considered one of the largest anti-hunting groups in the world after merging with The Fund For Animals. Their presence in Michigan is also significant because the HSUS has a track record of moving in and taking action in area’s thought to be vulnerable as Michigan appears to be. |
